Summer Bike Removal and On-Campus Storage
Each summer, Virginia Tech Transportation Services removes abandoned bikes from campus to prepare for the upcoming fall semester. If you're a student moving out, don’t leave your bicycle behind. Bikes left on signed racks after Commencement will be impounded.
Avoid Bike Impoundment
Students should take their bicycles home at the end of the semester to avoid a $35 impound fee plus the cost of a new lock. Faculty and staff who use their bikes for commuting can request a temporary tag by emailing Sustainable Transportation at gettingaround@vt.edu. This tag signals your bike is actively in use and not abandoned.
Affordable Summer Bike Storage Available
Looking for a secure and convenient place to store your bike during the summer? Virginia Tech provides summer bike storage at the Hokie Bike Hub, located on the ground floor of the Perry Street Transit Center at 1324 Perry Street. The Hokie Bike Hub is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
For only $30, you can store your bike on campus until you return for the fall. This is a cost-effective alternative to recovering a bike from impoundment.
