Virginia Breeze Bus Lines is an intercity bus service with four separate routes across the state of Virginia. The Highlands Rhythm route connects Bristol with Washington, D.C. (This route does not stop in Blacksburg, but it does stop in Christiansburg). This route also includes several stops in the New River Valley, Shenandoah Valley and Northern Virginia.

The Smart Way bus links the Roanoke Valley to the New River Valley. Popular stops include the Christiansburg Exit 118 park-and-ride lot, Roanoke-Blacksbug Airport, and Third Street Station in downtown Roanoke.

Smart Way Express (Service Monday - Friday)

Valley Metro operates Smart Way Express, which connects Virginia Tech's Blacksburg campus with the Roanoke campus, where the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine and the Fralin Biomedical Research Institute are located.

The service is available on a first-come, first-served basis (at no cost) to anyone with a valid ID from Virginia Tech, Carilion Clinic, Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine, Fralin Biomedical Research Institute, or Radford University Carilion. The general public is required to pay a $4 fare.
